Applicants for this position are asked to make a three-year commitment to the bargaining process, and must be GCFA members. Annual stipend is $2,185 for each negotiator.

Specific duties of part-time and first-and second-year full-time team members:
--Attend CCA-CTA and other trainings as appropriate to learn about negotiations skills and issues
--Attend Executive Board meetings generally, and in case lead negotiator is not able to attend
--Aid in formulating a survey of member issues and concerns early each fall semester
--Assist Executive Board in compiling and analysing member input on survey
--Research on specific issues of interest to the bargaining unit, beginning with District’s CCFS 311 and CCFS 311 Q forms
--Work with Executive Board to develop negotiations priorities, strategies, framework, and bottom lines, and represent these faithfully at the bargaining table
--Attend debriefings with the E Board and Rep Council and solicit their input and direction
--Prepare documents to track progess for E Board and membership; maintain files and records
--Develop contractual language and clauses as necessary. When needed, seeks and obtains concurrence of CCA-CTA staff, including Legal Counsel
--Meet with other negotiators before and after each negotiations session to plan and/or debrief
--Participate in evaluation of negotiations cycle for improved future processes
--Other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional duties of lead, third-year team member (in addition to above; note that GCFA bylaws stipulate that Lead Negotiator must be a full-time GCFA member)
--Be chief spokesperson for union at negotiation meetings with district
--Chair meetings of negotiations team members
--Attend every Executive Board meeting for negotiations update report, or infrequently designate other team member to substitute
--Debrief with GCFA president after every meeting with district
--Thoroughly understand and faithfully represent E Board direction at meetings with District
--Prepare and give monthly reports to Rep Council
--Prepare and give negotiations updates in verbal or written formats to members for routine updates and for elections
--Oversee tentative agreement paperwork and finalization of contractual agreement for GCFA President’s signature
