Section 1:

Two annual scholarships shall be awarded
  1. Transfer Student Scholarship -- $1,000.00
  2. Technical, Student Scholarship -- $500.00
Section 2: Process and Chronology
  1. Selection Committee: A selection committee of at least three but no more than five (this number to include the chair) shall be appointed by the Association President prior to May 1 of each year. The Association President-Elect, or other designee, shall chair the committee, and shall. notify the recipients.
  2. The committee shall establish its own working procedures within the provisions of this article.
  3. Recognition of those selected shall be made at the graduation ceremonies.
  4. The scholarship amount shall be awarded to the recipient by the Gavilan College Financial Aid Office upon verification of full-time enrollment the next term of attendance (excluding Summer Session). The recipient shall have one full academic year following the award to make the scholarship claim.
Section 3: Criteria for Selection: To be applied in the following manner:
  1. Grade Point Average and level of curricular difficulty;
  2. Contributions to the college through co- and extra-curricular activities
  3. Financial need.
Section 4: Recipient Selection
  1. Transfer Student: To be eligible for consideration, a student:
    1. must have completed at least 45 units of transfer work;
    2. must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in the transfer work;
    3. must have completed at least 60% of the work at Gavilan College
  2. Technical Student: To be eligible for consideration, a student:

    1. must have completed at least 45 units of work in the technical field including the suggested curriculum for the first year;
    2. must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in the technical work;
    3. must have completed at least 60% of the work at Gavilan College;
    4. has plans to complete the remaining portion of the program at Gavilan College.
Section 5: Non-Awarding/Forfeiture of Scholarship(s):

If no qualified student(s) are chosen by the election Committee or if a chosen student does not qualify through continued attendance, the scholarship amount(s) shall revert to the GCFA treasury.

Section 6: Faculty Scholarship Cup

The two scholarship recipients shall automatically be awarded the Faculty Scholarship Cup as co-winners.
