Section 1:

Officers shall be elected for a term of one (1) year, or until their successors are duly qualified for office.

Section 2:

A vacancy shall be deemed to exist in the case of the death, resignation, recall, or evident inability to serve in any of the offices of the association.

Section 3:

The President shall preside, act in general liaison, and perform those other functions of a president as listed in Robert's Rules Of Order, Revised. In addition, the President shall:
  1. Have been a member of the Gavilan College Faculty Association for at least one year;
  2. Possess a valid Teaching Credential or otherwise be qualified to teach in the State of California and the California Community College System;
  3. Be an ex officio member of all committees;
  4. With the advice and consent of the executive board, appoint all committees.
Section 4:

The President-Elect shall assist the president and act in place when necessary. He/she shall have the same qualifications as the president. He/she shall represent the Gavilan College Faculty Association as the representative to the Community College Association.

Section 5:

The Secretary shall keep a record of all meetings and shall carry on all necessary and desirable correspondence including the preparation and proper distribution of agendas.

Section 6:

The Treasurer shall receive and disburse all monies accruing to this organization. He/she shall be empowered to maintain a bank account on direction of the president or board. He/she shall save all bills, except normal courtesy gifts and remembrances. He/she must get approval of payment by either the Executive Board or a majority of the members. He/she shall maintain a list of all persons who have paid dues or other assessments. He/she shall make such financial reports as the president may require. He/she shall prepare and submit for acceptance by the association an annual budget. Any proposal to expend more than $500.00 (five-hundred dollars) must appear on the agenda of the earliest GCFA/CTA/NEA meeting for information and/or action.
